Mika Tolvanen on the Viso Bar Stool: “The Visu Bar Stool is the barstool version of the Visu Chair. The goal was to create a personal interpretation of the plywood chair. I wanted my chair to have a discreet and timeless character, a familiar, unconventional, and comfortable shape, without sacrificing economic qualities for form. I wanted to design a family of chairs with different functions but with the same style. The creative process took two years, but in the end, I can say that every detail is exactly as it should be.” Mika Tolvanen is part of the Finnish Rehti Design group. After graduating from the Royal College of Art with a Master's degree in design in 2001, Mika opened his own design studio in Helsinki. Since then, he has worked with some of the world's top designers and manufacturers. Mika Tolvanen's goal is not just to design products, but rather to seek out opportunities that require design and planning. What truly defines an object is how it is used, not its appearance.
