L’orologio Minos nasce da un progetto congiunto tra Raawii e gli studenti della scuola svizzera di design ECAL. La designer Manon Novelli ha interpretato il tema della luce e dell’ombra, così come il materiale ceramico, traducendoli in un rilievo che si rivela continuamente allo sguardo al variare della luce ambientale.
Il rilievo si ispira alle antiche meridiane e ai pattern della natura, mentre il nome Minos richiama la superficie labirintica del quadrante. Se nel mito il labirinto di Re Minosse custodiva una creatura leggendaria, l’orologio di Manon Novelli custodisce simbolicamente il tempo. In un’epoca dominata dalla fretta, il design discreto di Minos invita a una percezione più ampia del tempo, incoraggiando a rallentare e ad apprezzarlo.
Il quadrante in ceramica è composto da cerchi concentrici, ognuno con quattro aperture che segnano intervalli, sfalsate rispetto al cerchio precedente in riferimento al ritmo del tempo. Le lancette sono progettate affinché siano spesso le loro ombre, proiettate sul rilievo, a risultare più visibili delle lancette stesse. L’orologio è ideale accanto a una finestra, dove la luce naturale ne valorizza l’effetto mutevole durante la giornata.
