The Minos clock is the result of a joint project between Raawii and students at the Swiss design school ECAL. Designer Manon Novelli interpreted the themes of light and shadow, as well as the ceramic material, translating them into a relief that continually reveals itself to the eye as the ambient light changes.
The embossed detail is inspired by ancient sundials and natural patterns, while the name Minos recalls the dial's labyrinthine surface.
The ceramic dial is composed of concentric circles, each with four apertures marking intervals, offset from the previous circle in reference to the rhythm of time. The hands are designed so that their shadows, projected onto the relief, are often more visible than the hands themselves. The clock is ideal next to a window, where natural light enhances its changing effect throughout the day.
