It all started out of necessity, Hannes explains. We were working in our new house, which is actually an old one. There was no ceiling socket above the table to connect a light source, so we designed a lamp that could be hung on the wall. The first prototypes were shown at Muller Van Severen's very first solo exhibition in 2011. During that show, Fien and Hannes filled the space at Veerle Wenes's Valerie Traan gallery with drawings that looked as if someone had taken a set of crayons and started drawing in the air. Indeed, that's exactly how these lamps should be interpreted, as seemingly naive drawings materialized in real life. Like all Muller Van Severen furniture, the pendant lamps add a sober yet colorful line to the interior. At the end of that line is a light bulb, with a lampshade initially found at a flea market. It's a fantastic lampshade: perfectly neutral.
