An innovation in modern rattan furniture design, created in the late 1940s by Egon Eiermann, one of the co-founders of the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung) and one of Germany's most important postwar architects. With the E10, Eiermann developed a new type of lounge chair whose stability derived exclusively from the weaving technique. An innovative concept that would be a resounding success: in the legendary German Pavilion, designed by Eiermann and Ruf for the 1958 World's Fair.
