The Raawii creative department presents its first collection of woven blankets: a project born from the encounter between four contemporary designers and their respective sources of inspiration, resulting in four distinctive and strongly characterized interpretations. The generous dimensions enhance the collection's patterns, which range from bold and vibrant graphic compositions to more essential and restrained proposals.
Crafted to last, these blankets combine quality materials and artisanal care. The rich, enveloping fabric is composed of a luxurious blend of virgin wool and cashmere. The fibers, carefully selected to ensure softness, color depth, and durability, are processed and dyed in Italy. Production takes place in a historic Florentine factory that has been in business for over a century, using a sophisticated jacquard technique that allows for complex, nuanced designs. Each blanket requires the simultaneous intervention of at least two artisans, demonstrating a process that combines technical expertise, tradition, and precision craftsmanship.
For the “Brush” collection, Nicholai began the creative process with a simple yet revealing observation: “We often think of a blanket as a two-dimensional object, when in reality it is three-dimensional.” This gave rise to the idea of working on lines and textures to convey their depth and material presence.
The pattern takes shape through visible brushstrokes, with intentionally soft and nuanced edges, translating the pictorial gesture into a textile surface. The collection's name recalls both this creative process and the tactile sensation of the soft fabric against the skin. The carefully selected color combinations enhance the product's dual nature: the two sides of the blanket are interwoven with opposing colors, creating a "positive" and a "negative" version.
The visual language thus changes depending on the exposed side and how the blanket is folded or wrapped, offering ever-changing interpretations of the same object. Nicholai's vision was to create a true "evergreen": a product designed to accompany those who choose it for a lifetime, guiding every design decision towards durability, balance, and timelessness.
