SILAÏ means “embroidery” in Hindi and is a reinterpretation of the basic stitch in embroidery.
Charlotte Lancelot has created a contemporary collection that rediscovers the technique of hand embroidery and celebrates its beauty.
Squares, triangles, diamonds, hexagons, octagons, and crosses are all hand-embroidered using only wool threads. The Silaï collection reinterprets the basic principles of petit point embroidery through a highly specific revision of this technique, applying both the types of stitches and the scale and thickness of the threads.
The attractive patterns of rugs, poufs and cushions that make up the series are based on four stitch variations, hand-embroidered by Indian artisans with 100% virgin wool yarns on a PVC grid.
