Kvadrat is a Danish textile company that produces and supplies textiles and textile products to architects, designers and consumers worldwide.Founded in Denmark in 1968 with deep roots in the Scandinavian design tradition, Kvadrat was born as a Danish textile company that produces and supplies textiles and textile products to architects, designers and consumers worldwide. The Kvadrat company was founded by Poul Byriel and Erling Rasmussen in 1968 in Ebeltoft, Denmark. The close collaboration between Kvadrat and the designers has led to the creation of classic fabrics such as Hallingdal by Nanna Ditzel which still today decorates most of our homes, hospitals, airports and trains, particularly on the Danish national railways (DSB). The national critical recognition of Kvadrat's design contribution came in 1986, when the Danish Museum of Art and Design organized the Kvadrat Textiles exhibition for 20 years.
The company has resisted international trends and has kept its distinctive Scandinavian style. Kvadrat's fabrics were used as carriers of national political symbolism when British architects Foster and Partners were commissioned to design the interior of the Bundestag's Debate Chamber in the Reichstag, where the cobalt blue Topas fabric was used "to represent a strong image of the Parliament ".
