valerie_objects introduces a light object designed by young Belgian designer-architect Pierric De Coster. De Coster carries the legacy of minimalists deep in his heart. Every design object is stylised to the absolute limit. This is also the case with this L1 floor lamp, its shape consisting of nothing but two slender tubes. One cylinder projects light onto the other, which in turn reflects the light again. The result: a vertical sculpture with a zephyr glow floating in the middle. L1 measures 187 centimetres, the exact length of its maker, and is assembled in aluminium, a material you can manipulate to the millimetre. De Coster's aim is to create tension in space with the bare minimum of means. With this floor lamp, he might just have reached his height. This is a true minimalistic totem.
